New detection tool for airborne spores of Powdery Mildew

New detection tool for airborne spores of Powdery Mildew

Powdery mildew, caused by the fungus Erysiphe necator, is an important disease of grapevines in Australia and worldwide. If not adequately controlled, it reduces yield and quality of grapes and the resulting wines (Wine Australia).

The Molecular Diagnostics Centre at South Australia’s Research and Development Institute have developed an assay to report the abundance of Powdery Mildew spores trapped by suction traps onboard the iMapPESTS sentinels.

Check out the data dashboards for our current trials in the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley to see the data so far.
