iMapPESTS has completed a deployment trial of Sentinel 6 to Campsey Ash Farms in the Lockyer Valley. We’ve analysed insect and fungal spore samples to report the presence of high-priority airborne pests and disease-causi9ng organisms over the transition from Winter to Spring.
During this trial we targeted the following pests and fungal pathgoens for ID and quantification from our onboard samplers:
Insect pests targeted with 2m suction trap
Green peach aphid (Myzus persicae)
Green mirid (Creontiades dilutus)
Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis)
Onion thrips (Thrips tabaci)
Green vegetable bug (Nezara viridula)
Fungal pathogens targeted
Botrytis grey mould (Botryitis cinerea)
Sclerotinia white rot (Sclerotinia minor &/ S. sclerotiorum)
iMapPESTS data dashboard by Data Effects
Weather and data for pest and pathogens trapped by the suction traps are shared via the data dashboard (link below).
Weather data is captured and presented in real-time (temperature, relative humidity & rainfall), while pest & pathogen data is uploaded as it becomes available (~2 week lag).
Insect data are presented as the total number of each target insect counted in collected samples from our 2m insect suction trap.
Spore data is presented as kilo copies of target DNA per sample from spore sampler.
